Talitres is an indie label from Bordeaux, south west of France.

After having moved from California to New York, singer/songwriter Brian Wurschum formed The Voyces. The group released “The Angels of Fun”, a mostly folk-oriented effort co-produced by Diego Garrido (The Simpsons, The Squid and the Whale).

That same year, The Voyces would receive international exposure when one of their songs, “Relate To Me,” was included in Jack Johnson`s “Thicker Than Water” film and soundtrack.

In 2006, the band`s songs found their way into the feature film, "National Lampoon’s Adam & Eve" and the television show, "Monarch Cove."

"Kissing Like It`s Love" (2007) remained a bestseller at Barnes & Noble. In September of 2009, the band released "Let Me Die In Southern California." The title-track reached #5 on THE HYPE MACHINE when the song was released one month before the album came out.

Singer-songwriter Andy B White was born and raised in rural Illinois, somewhere between corn fields and soybean farms. He now lives in suburban Chicago, surrounded by traffic and skylines. You can hear the influence of both locales in his indie folk music.

White found his musical voice during his college years, when he bought a guitar and taught himself how to play and write music. After spending three years making albums and selling out venues with a Chicago-based rock band, White set out on his own to find a new musical direction and record his first solo EP, Dirty Wings – an intimate and heartfelt collection of acoustic songs about love, loss and that incessant Midwestern hope for a brighter tomorrow.

1997 saw the inaugural event of Phthalo Records (Th�-lo), which was a debut album by future Planet-Mu and A-Musik recording artist Phthalocyanine.

Guided by the curatorial intuitions of label owner Dimitri Fergadis, Phthalo specializes almost exclusively in releasing abstract electronica and techno, and actively maintains a catalog that is approximately fifty releases strong. The label`s efforts have led to the debut albums of luminaries such as Vladislav Delay, Dntel, and Daedelus.

Phthalo`s 2010 release schedule will feature three triple album sets by each of these names. Suki Ewers has spent her career perfecting a glorious, countrified strand of dream-pop as part of bands Mazzy Star, Opal and Anemone. The music is hazy, bittersweet pop and the songs are at once dreamy and enigmatic yet immediately accessible. Suki manages to evoke much of the same delicately pretty gloominess as Opal while adding her own serenely melodic warmth.

Some songs blend classic slow, sultry country poetics over swirling layers of electric ambiance to paint a desert sunset afterglow comparable with the slowcore loveliness of Low, the stargazing Nashville sounds of Cortney Tidwell, and most obviously, the opiated balladry of former bandmate Hope Sandoval.

The songwriting and production are in perfect harmony, sounding like a pedal steel-toting Velvet Underground on `All Day Long`, whilst spouting blasts of echoing guitar distortion and searing synthesizer on `This Must Be Heaven`. Sidestepping the dream-pop pitfalls, Ewers never hides her songs - or for that matter her vocals - behind the array of studio techniques and effects that help shape this album, and Kind Of Hazy resounds far more clearly than its title might have you believe.

Formed in Manchester`s late-`70s punk scene, A Certain Ratio used an increasing amount of electronics throughout the `80s to become more of a dancefloor-oriented band, much like Factory label-mates New Order.

The group (whose name is an homage to a Brian Eno song) was formed in 1977 by vocalists Simon Topping and Martha Tilson, bassist Jeremy Kerr, guitarist Peter Terrell and guitarist/trumpeter Martin Moscrop -- drummer Donald Johnson later replaced a drum machine.

As depicted in the film 24 Hour Party People, the punk and industrial grind of ACR`s early live shows soon became more danceable and funky. Their single "Shack Up" even reached the American R& B Top 50.

Shelflife Records is a Portland and San Francisco based record label run by Ed Mazzucco and Matthew Bice and has produced such bands as Thieves Like Us, The Radio Dept., Burning Hearts, Days, and The Ruling Class.

Shelflife traces its 1995 origins to a bedroom in a southern California suburb, where it began in conjunction with a mail order and distribution service. A fan of 80`s britpop and inspired by labels such as Factory and Sarah Records, Ed launched the label as a way to expose foreign indie pop groups to US audiences.

Shelflife`s first release was the August 1996 compilation Whirl-Wheels which included tracks by Club 8, Boyracer, La Buena Vida, and Ed`s own band The Autocollants.  During the late 90`s Shelflife steadily gained recognition as twee pop and indie music became increasingly popular. Other artists include: Brittle Stars, Call and Response, Churchbuilder, Majestic, Phoebe Quest, The Shermans,  Souvenir and Laura Watling.

Deeplay Music started in 2000 with a goal to bring Scandinavian Deep House artists to the world. Said and done, they signed high acclaimed Physics from Sweden and Dalminjo from Norway.

After several releases with those two the label grew bigger every year with more international talent. They couldn`t resist saying no to all the great demos sent from all over the world. The label now carries everything from Chill Out and Downtempo to Deep-Jazzy-Soulful House.

In 2005 they started Deeplay Soultec with a more underground touch of House. A bit more Techy and Electronic. Alongside these two labels they also run Just For Fun Recordings which is the more uplifting label with Big-Room House for the bigger clubs. And lest one forget the Minimal House label Audiobahn.

All together they go under the umbrella of Deeplay Music Label Group.

Music To Your Ears owner and songwriter Gordon Pogoda has had two songs featured in the Oscar-winning film Little Miss Sunshine, Josie and the Pussycats, a Lindsey Lohan film, and over 50 shows including Sex and the City, Hannah Montana, CSI Miami, ER, Will and Grace and King of the Hill.

He has had songs recorded for Pop Idol, the number 2 song of the year in Russia, platinum records with the Australian Popstars, the Greek Popstars and Finnish band Tiktak, and a song in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, representing the Czech Republic (where it was a top 5 hit). His songs also have been featured in six Disney releases.

Singer-Songwriter John DiBiasi, originally from Toronto, Canada developed his craft as a songwriter while playing in both cover and original bands. His songwriting has mass appeal, but with an indie attitude, and blends elements of alternative rock, pop, folk, and jazz music.

John DiBiasi places emphasis on telling a story with poetic lyrics and catchy melodies in a simple song structure. He tackles topics such as relationships, politics, and religion, but does so with an optimistic tone.

His use of dynamics and key changes, mixed with a raw sound, combine his maturity as a songwriter with youthful energy, he draws on all of his influences to capture songs that are distinct from one to the next in style, performance, theme, mood, arrangement, and sound.

Michael Beckmann started out as founder of the Rainbirds in 1986. The band had two No.1 Albums and a Europe-wide hit single with "Blueprint". After this success together with Bela B. from `Die Aerzte` (one of the most successful bands in Germany) he founded Deep Jones, working as a Producer, specializing in guitar-oriented sounds and songs, mixed with modern electronic elements. He had big chart success by producing Extrabreit, Keimzeit and Chris Norman.

Since 2000 he has worked as an executive producer and score composer for film and TV projects and for several movies he was the score composer.  In addition to scoring several commercials, he also composed the music for the TV program "Charlotte Roche trifft..." and recently produced the comeback show-album Break Away by Chris Norman. He also did several scores for feature films such as Dancing with Myself, Max & Moritz Reloaded and a few songs for Summer and Vollidiot.

String Theory is a hybrid performance group featuring giant invented instruments which are the centerpiece of their recordings and performances. 15 musicians and dancers all congregate around giant Harps which can extend up to 1,000 feet to create an unforgettable performance.

String Theory performed at the 2006 Grammy`s, for The Opening Festivities of The Walt Disney Concert Hall, at Rock the Cure at Ceasar`s Palace, the 2008 World Festival of Sacred Music and toured Asia in `07.

In 2009, String Theory premiered “14 Lengths of Desire”, an evening-length theater work at The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica.

String Theory consistently creates stunning music for picture. Combining a non-traditional approach to composition with invented and traditional instrumentation, String Theory composes and produces a wide breadth of musical styles. Music styles range from pop to rock, ambient and 15th. C. Spanish Renaissance.

String Theory was recently featured on WNYC’s “New Sounds Live Program”, as well as “The World Today” on the BBC.

With over 150,000 fans and 3.6 million plays on MySpace, sales in excess of 10,000 cd`s and 50,000 downloads internationally, and an extensive resume of songs featured in film and television (MTV, VH1, ESPN, Lifetime), Gavin Mikhail is a shining example of the modern-day independent artist.

At the heart of his appeal is a lyrical honesty and devotion to his fans seldom found in today`s mainstream musical landscape. Plainly put... he cares. And his fans love him for it. As testament to this artist-fan connection, in November 2007, out of 1,700 artists entered in the SSL/Eventful/Tunecore `Lay It Down And Mix It Up In The UK` Contest, Gavin took first place, winning by a margin of over 13,000 votes and more than doubling the number of votes cast for the second place finisher.

Having won, Gavin traveled to Peter Gabriel`s Real World Studios in December to begin work on his third studio album (due for release in spring 2009). Like his previous two offerings `My Personal Beauty Needs` (2003) and `Like Normal People Do` (2006), the album is sure to please fans and critics alike, showcasing his poignant lyrics, true musicianship, and further setting him apart from other artists in the ever-burgeoning piano-rock genre.

Talented, down-to-earth, and with songs that touch the soul,Gavin is truly one to watch in 2009.

Singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist, and classical pianist, Cate Kanell crafts music of honest, emotive beauty.  Her debut full length album “Sleep to the Knowing” showcases elegant, autobiographical songs with soothing vocals and sparkling instrumentation.  Ranging from stark and subtle to lush and powerful, Cate’s songs speak largely of love and its many shades of grey. 

Cate began to develop a loyal following in the early 2000’s when her self-recorded EP “One Truth” climbed to the top of Mp3.com’s acoustic charts and became Mp3.com’s number two top selling album.  She spent her college years performing in the subways, streets, and cafes of Boston, and recording in her dorm rooms as well as Avatar Studios and The Hit Factory in Manhattan. 

In 2002 Cate and ten other artists from around the world were handpicked among hundreds to attend an exclusive songwriting workshop led by the esteemed Lori Carson. 

Cate penned “Sleep to the Knowing” over the following five years in both Boston and Oxford, England. She has expanded her sound while maintaining the sweet vulnerability and delicate strength that has characterized her music from the start.

On the heel`s of his first two chart-topping releases (Champion Sound Clash and Atomic Subsonic) Toronto`s Dubmatix has become one of Canada`s premiere dub, reggae and electro artists having spent months on top of the Canadian and International charts, touring domestically and internationally, collaborating with legendary reggae heavy weights (Sugar Minott, Michael Rose, Alton Ellis and more) and a sought after producer/remixer working with artists across the globe. 

Voted the #1 Reggae release of 2008 in Canada by radio and music critics alike, `Renegade Rocker` sees Dubmatix forging ahead with a diverse blend of future-dub, roots, dancehall, rocksteady and drum and bass, clearly leaving his mark as one of Canada`s brightest rising artists/producers on the International reggae and electronic stage. 

2009 is already proving to be a very busy year for Dubmatix, having completed collaborations with John Brown`s Body , Linval Thompson and  a future release with Pato Banton.

Berlin based Torpedo Boyz are among a diverse group of independent artists named as Winners of the 8th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMA) program.

The Torpedo Boyz are named Winner in the Dance/Electronica - Album category for the release "Cum On Feel The Boyz" (on Lounge Records/ Sounds From The Roof Rec.).

With well-known club hits such as “Gimme A Bassline!”, “Are You Talking To Me???” or “Japaneeze Boyz” the Torpedo Boyz have already gained respect among clubbers and DJs around the globe.

With winning the “Independent Music Award” for “Cum On Feel The Boyz”, their second longplayer after their highly acclaimed debut “Headache Music” the Torpedo Boyz are slowly becoming an international household name among funky music lovers around the world.

Reflecting the breadth of the independent music community, this year’s IMA Winners and Finalists were culled from thousands of submissions worldwide, including the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Cuba, China, Mongolia, Republic of Guinea, Israel, South Africa, Italy, France and Sweden. Additionally, they represent every level of experience including a variety of seasoned recording artists. 

A 50-person judging panel consisting of influential artists and industry decision makers including Peter Gabriel, Kurtis Blow, Suzanne Vega, Roger Daltrey, Ice-T, George Jones, Steve Vai, Dez Cadena, Rick Springfield, Buddy Guy, Keith Urban and others like Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys determined this year’s Winners in 50+ Music and Design categories.
